Project Description

Outdoor First aid Courses

Our Outdoor First Aid courses adhere to the Institute of Outdoor Learning – Outdoor First Aid Training Framework.

Our one day and two courses fulfil the needs of all the outdoor national governing bodies such as SMBLA, ML, SPA, RYA, BCU, ASSI, BOF & Forest Schools.

Throughout the course you will be presented with a number of realistic situations involving casualty make up. This will challenge and enhance the skills and knowledge you have acquired during the course.

Our ethos of training is to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, at the same time getting the message across of the seriousness of the subject and the skills you obtain to save a life.

You are probably aware that there is a Legal requirement for Employers to Risk Assess First Aid issues with regards to their business and this requirement includes the provision of suitably trained First Aid Personnel. Our professional opinion is, that if you work (or play) in the great outdoors, maybe away from immediate medical care response, it makes justifiable sense that a classroom led First Aid session is neither realistic nor sufficient

Your course will be taught by experienced Emergency Service personnel with a keen and active interest in the great outdoors.

“ELST has become our favoured provided of First Aid, because of the knowledge and skill he brings to the course, his understanding of our needs working outdoors and with machinery . Most of the teaching is outside, and the training scenarios are tailored to our work and much more realistic than classroom-based providers. Our staff say they feel more confident and able to deal with an incident and that they really enjoy the training. Thanks Andy!”

As a mountain leader I needed to renew my first aid qualification. I found the 2 day Outdoor first Aid course both fun and challenging. Andy’s practical knowledge and advice made this course shine out from others I have attended. Don’t expect overhead projectors and PowerPoint presentations this course is truly ‘Outdoors’. I found the website easy to use and it gave me a good variety of dates to choose from. Andy ensured that the casualty scenarios were realistic and more importantly relevant to my work. This course will be at the top of my list when it’s time to refresh my knowledge. After years of renewing my first aid certificate in stuffy classrooms with sheaves of notes never looked at again, this course was a breath of fresh air - literally.....With Andy and his amazing team we got one valuable list of first aid kit contents, one simple (SAMPLE) acrostic to remind us what info to get from the 'patient' and a host of practical advice. Treating casualties in the woods for injuries and incidents that you really might potentially meet was stimulating and scary in equal measure. This course was practical, relevant and fun. I feel so much more confident that I CAN do this.Thank you, guys! Lynda Woods Sussex Wildlife Trust
