Wilderness First Aid is a specific discipline in First Aid. Wilderness First Aid presents the rescuer with the unique situation of prolonged care of a patient in a remote area, before definitive medical care can be provided. In such situations the emergency medical services may be difficult to obtain or delayed and there are a number of different skills required compared to the urban setting.
Throughout the course you will be presented with a number of realistic situations involving casualty make up. This will challenge and enhance the skills and knowledge you have acquired during the course. Our ethos of training is to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, at the same time getting the message across of the seriousness of the subject and the skills you obtain to save a life. Your course will be taught by experienced Emergency Service personnel with a keen and active interest in the great outdoors.
You are probably aware that there is a Legal requirement for Employers to Risk Assess First Aid issues with regards to their business and this requirement includes the provision of suitably trained 1st Aid Personnel. Our professional opinion is, that if you work (or play) in the great outdoors, maybe away from immediate medical care response, it makes justifiable sense that a classroom led 1st Aid session is neither realistic nor sufficient.
Our two and three day courses fulfil the needs of all the outdoor national governing bodies such as SMBLA, ML, SPA, RYA, BCU, BASI, ASSI, BOF
